FEDERAL LEGISLATION Brian Gottfried has resigned, effective Nov 5, 2006 HUD's former Attorney General does not last a year. Sworn-in to the office on December 7, 2005 he resigns effective November 5, 2006. No replacement is in sight. Mr. Gottfried is a bright well seasoned individual with loads of industry and government experience.
It is unfortunate that his talents did not remain longer at HUD for they could surely use them. His ideas on RESPA having industry input and being more transparent were welcoming concepts by industry and could have bode well for mortgage brokers. This was a possible light to remove the YSP. Now it has been snuffed out. It would appear that many of the lights in the HUD offices and between the ears have been snuffed out as of recent events. Is this the agency that is the czar of the largest industry in the nation?
How could this paradox exist? Will it change? Stay tuned for ever changing events.
