DFWAMB Political Action Committee

What is a political action committee (PAC)?
A committee formed by business, labor, or other special-interest groups to raise money and make contributions to the campaigns of political candidates whom they support.

Why are political action committees (PAC) formed?
Corporations, labor unions, membership organizations and trade associations form political action committees (PACs) to solicit contributions from individuals associated with these organizations. These committees can only solicit contributions from individuals associated with the connected or sponsoring organization.

Why should I contribute to the Dallas-Ft. Worth Association of Mortgage Brokers Political Action Committee (PAC)?
Elected officials must raise funds in order to be elected. Since we are in a government regulated business, it is imperative that Mortgage Brokers have supportive legislators. Contributions help gain access to elected officials. It is important to remember that the most successful trade organizations have very active PACs.

How much can political action committees (PAC) contribute?
PACs can contribute $5000 per election per candidate. Individuals are limited to $2000 per election per candidate. All funds contributed to the DFWAMB PAC must be personal. No corporate money can go into our PAC. Payment must be made with personal credit card or check.

What does a political action committee (PAC) do?
The Dallas Ft. Worth Association of Mortgage Brokers Political Action Committee (PAC) makes contributions to elected officials for the following reasons:

  • to support those who are friendly to legislation helpful to mortgage brokers or
  • to gain access to those who might be friendly to mortgage brokers or
  • to support a candidate against an elected official who is unfriendly to mortgage brokers.
