Welcome to DFWAMB |

DFWAMB was chartered in 1988, the first organized mortgage broker association in Texas.
DFWAMB Past President Connie Hearn is a member of the prestigious Mortgage Broker Advisory Committee. She is one of only 4 mortgage broker appointees charged with advising Texas Department of Savings and Mortgage Lending (TDSML) Commissioner Doug Foster on issues such as proposing and adopting rules relative to licensing, education, conduct and ethics, forms, interpretations, and enforcement.
DFWAMB hosted the first-ever “Best Business Practices” seminar in August 2006, led by then-TDSML Commissioner Payne and Deputy Commissioner Doug Foster.
DFWAMB is on a first-name basis with local, state, and national political figures. In 2006, Lee Gammill and Marty Sisk were among 50 invited guests to a meeting of 12 of the Texas Republican Congressional Delegation.
DFWAMB introduced an important bill to the Texas legislature in 2005, a bill to grant a second lien license through the TDSML, concurrent with issuance of the first lien license. Expect this bill to gather momentum and hopefully pass in this legislative session.
DFWAMB, since 2004, has raised and donated over $45,000 through its PAC. We have strategically targeted, on a non-partisan basis, key legislators based on seniority and committee assignments, including Illinois Congressman Donald Manzullo who was instrumental in defeating HUD’s first attempt at RESPA reform.
DFWAMB provides ongoing continuing education to local brokers and loan officers through our monthly luncheon programs, as well as working together with our sponsors to co-host special events. A total of 10 CE hours of TDSML approved education was provided through DFWAMB during 2006. Our programs have included national industry giants such as Barry Habib, convicted mortgage felon Jerome Mayne, and marketing guru Debra Jones.
DFWAMB was invited by HUD to represent Texas brokers in August 2005 at one of seven RESPA Roundtables conducted across the U.S. At the meeting, DFWAMB presented a “whitepaper” report, which was widely quoted in the RESPA News recap of the event.
DFWAMB needs (and wants) your participation in advancing our great profession, whether it be through membership or sponsorship. Belong to one of the leading mortgage broker associations in the nation. Join us today!
