  • Mar Luncheon - Advanced Credit Repair Strategies
    Event Date: 3/17/2009
This is NOT your basic Credit Repair 101 class. There are a lot of misunderstandings and misconceptions about how the credit repair process works, what debt collectors can and can’t do, and how quickly and how much credit scores can be improved. We have compiled some of the most frequently asked advanced questions about credit repair that you have submitted to us and will address them in a rapid-fire manner. What specifically do YOU want to know about the credit repair process? Bring your questions!

Credit restoration expert and attorney, Mathew Jacob, of RCS Credit Solutions, will answer all your questions. Some of the questions we will be addressing include:

    * How can clients get around credit report errors that are stonewalled by the creditors, collectors, and/or the bureaus?

    * What really constitutes “Date of Last Activity” on a delinquent tradeline? Calling the creditor to inquire on the account? A voice mail message from a collection company? A request to validate the debt? (You’ll be surprised at the answer to this one.)

    * How do you deal with a single derogatory account that has been transferred or sold to several collectors, resulting in multiple entries on the credit report? Who has the authority to report? (29% of all collection items have duplicate entries.)

    * What actions can be taken to stop the sale of medical collections?

    * And much more . . .

  • Feb Luncheon - Home Valuation Code of Conduct
    Event Date: 2/17/2009
The Home Valuation Code of Conduct (HVCC), although opposed by virtually all industry groups, has been moving forward without any significant resistance. If the new regulation is not stopped, effective May 1, 2009, mortgage brokers will no longer be able to order appraisals or have any contact with the appraiser on their transactions. This new regulation would have significant unintended consequences in the real estate industry in general, and would be devastating to mortgage brokers. At our information-packed lunch meeting, you will learn the following:

    * The Wholesale Lender Perspective - Everbank Wholesale Lending, DFWAMB sponsor and one of the true “broker friendly” lenders, will share their position on the HVCC and what procedures they are putting in place if/when it goes into effect.

    * The Appraiser Perspective - Long-time Dallas appraiser, Mark Bond, will discuss how the HVCC impacts his industry, from appraisal management companies to fee splitting to the “notalking relationship” with mortgage brokers and Realtors.

    * NAMB’s Pending Lawsuit - Word on the street is that NAMB will take legal and legislative action to stop the HVCC. DFWAMB completely supports these efforts and will give you the current status.

    * DFWAMB’s Legal Opinion - Tom Kapioltas will discuss the merits (or lack thereof) of the HVCC regulation.

    * Other Federal Agency Plans which could trump the HVCC and do not cut mortgage brokers out of the process.

    * A number of changes to DU’s credit risk assessment and eligibility requirements.

    * Continue to analyze each loan case file using validated statistically significant variables that have been shown to be predictive of mortgage default; and

    * No longer consider the existence of mortgage insurance as a mitigating risk factor when evaluating higher LTV loans, most notably for the purchase of a one-unity property that will be the borrower’s principal residence.

    * Improved credit quality across all DE recommendations levels, especially for Expanded Approval (EA’s) recommendations.

    * Some loan case files will receive more conservative recommendations, while others may receive improved recommendations when compared to similar loan case files submitted to DU Version 5.7.

    * Reduce approve and/or EA recommendation rates, although the overall impact will vary depending on the mix of business the customer submits to DU.
